Lora De Salvo

Senior Curriculum Developer

Lora joins iCivics as the Senior Curriculum Developer after 16 years teaching U.S. History and U.S. Government courses at the two-year college and high school levels.  Being an advocate for students understanding how their government works, she created and ran the Political Action Workshop where her high school students studied political issues and the political system in-depth to produce a quarterly news magazine and public exhibits to better educate the school community.

Lora holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Boston University and a Masters degree in American Studies from Boston College.  She has also worked as a training specialist with the Anti-Defamation League facilitating anti-bias and anti-bullying programs with middle and high school students. Previously she worked as a Park Ranger for the National Park Service and recently has collaborated with museums in the Boston area designing education programs and organizing a summer teacher institute.

When she’s not writing about history, Lora is an avid hiker (even if the knees don’t work as well as they used to), dedicated beach goer and somewhat maniacal hockey fan.
